Moons & Cycles

New Moons

When the Moon is new, both the Sun and Moon are aligned in the same zodiac sign. That makes it a charged time with concentrated energies of that sign. A New Moon is a portal for new beginnings.

New Moons are a great time to set intentions for things you’d like to create, develop, and manifest. There are many ways to share your intentions with the universe, but what matters most is that you’re committing yourself to your vision, and open to receiving guidance, healing, and support to make your dreams a reality. When new moons come around, I tell all my clients to write down intentions, or as other astrologers call it, a “new moon wish list”, which consists of writing down what you would like to manifest and visualize them into reality. You can then check off the items that you have manifested at the end of each cycle.

Full Moons

Many people feel the heavy energy of the Full Moon, and that is because the Sun and Moon are in opposite zodiac signs. It’s a super charged time, often emotional. It is the buildup of the waxing moon that causes people to act once it reaches fullness. Full moons often bring endings of one situation in order for there to be a beginning of something new. Of course, this depends on how things have been going all along. Sometimes full moons augur the endings of a bad situation, which makes it a very positive and uplifting experience. There can also be epiphanies regarding issues you were confused about. This can help in the process of acting only when we are sure of our feelings.

Eclipses

Eclipses of the sun (solar eclipses), and the moon (lunar eclipses), are astronomical events seen by the naked eye that have a physical effect, as the light of the sun or moon is dimmed by the eclipse. Eclipses have been monitored scientifically since the dawn of time. In ancient times, astrology regarding eclipses and moons were used to predict war or peace, and suggest the right time to act. Clergyman, astronomers, and astrologers saw the significance of the eclipses, which caused them to study the placements and create tables based upon the moon’s nodes. In modern times, astrologers use the orbs of the planets to check if there is a significant occurrence in a client’s chart due to an eclipse.

Eclipses come in a series, and it is safe to say that they do not always bring their message at the exact date of the aspect. As the full moon lunar eclipses come about, there is sure to be a new moon solar eclipse a few weeks later. If you have an eclipse near your birthday, the year ahead will be an exciting one with possible sudden events bringing you into new territory.

Solar (new moon) eclipses are very powerful and usually affect outside politics and men more than women. Deaths can occur during a solar eclipse’s transit, and it is usually a male. Solar eclipses augur new beginnings in life. Usually the old is overthrown so the new can begin, but of course this is only if it is needed in your life. Solid structures often overcome periods of renewal. What can occur during a solar eclipse is that a prominent man may move away from you in life or in business. At times people in power are often replaced as well, such as the head of a corporation. This is not to say that the message the eclipse brings is not positive, it just may take some time to see the benefits. The effects are usually felt for about six months and what effect it will have on a particular person or person (s) in their life is based upon their respective chart.

Lunar (full moon) eclipses usually have more impact on women and families, as they augur emotions and endings. It can cause major emotional upheavals and even breakdowns, as well as memories and dreams which could bring up some intense feelings and reactions. They can also signify the end of a bad situation or the end of single life or a life without kids, etc.

Eclipses come to shake us out of a rut and always breathe new air into our lives and should not be seen as negative, although some aspects surrounding eclipses can make them appear harsh. Engagement, marriage, buying a house, divorce, breakups, deaths, births, loss of money, monetary gains, buying or losing a pet, and surgery are some of the effects that can come about. It is not always a cut and dry positive or negative experience dealing with an eclipse, but there will always be external or internal change.

To learn how the eclipses will affect you, it is best to read for your sun sign and rising sign for accuracy.
