Vedic Astrology

Jyotiṣa meaning “light, heavenly body”, also anglicized Jyotish and Jyotisha, is the Hindu system of astrology. It is also known as Indian astrology, Hindu astrology, or the latest term, Vedic astrology. Vedic astrology remains important to many Hindu’s. Important events such as marriages, moving house, and career often times involve consulting the charts of the parties involved. Newborns are sometimes named by their jyotish charts. As of the year 2001, some universities in India offer advance degrees in astrology and consider it a science. Unlike western astrology, vedic astrology is intertwined with religion. This form of astrology uses sidereal time, as opposed to the tropical time used in western astrology.
